On February 9, a public awareness lecture dedicated to Epilepsy Awareness Day was held in the main lecture hall of Osh International Medical University (OIMU). The session was delivered by neurologist and faculty member of department of clinical disiplines Azizbek Karaev.
During the lecture, A. Karaev spoke about the etiology of epilepsy, major risk factors, and common myths surrounding the condition. Special attention was given to safety and first aid: the speaker demonstrated how to respond correctly during an epileptic seizure and how to support a person until medical professionals arrive.
The event attracted strong interest from students and university staff. Participants asked questions and discussed practical situations that may occur in everyday life.
Such lectures contribute to improving medical literacy, fostering a responsible attitude toward first aid, and supporting important initiatives aimed at increasing public awareness of neurological disorders.
